In January 2010 a second 1,5T MRI device by Phillips was installed, funded by Integrated operational program of EU (IOP) which performs various examinations mainly to oncology and internal medicine patients. We perform routine MRI examinations of liver, biliary tree and also imaging of fistulas in patients with inflammatory bowel diseases. In patients from the Clinic of Gynecology pelvic examinations are performed maily for staging of cervical cancer. |
A Complex Cardio-vascular Center (KKVC) was established in the General University Hospital in 2010. In cooperation with cardiologists of all Clinics of Internal Medicine we also perform cardiac MRI routinely. A software equipment enables us a detailed analysis of functional parameters of heart with a good image resolution. In accord with current worldwide trends MRI becomes a golden standard for imaging of a number of cardiovascular pathologies in our department.
In this department more than 160 publications in national and international journals were published during the last 10 years as well as 2 monographies, many chapters in the literature; we participated on 15 grant projects, 1 research project by the Ministry of Education and 2 research projects by the Ministry of Healthcare. Also more than 250 lectures were held on national and international congresses and symposia. Our department obtained an approval for postgraduate studies of neuroradiology, participates on education of medical students in the subject of Radiology, Neurology and Biophysics and many different types of bachelor studies. |
